The
following is from WWE.com
Now that Ivory is on RAW, Dawn Marie is
probably the most talkative Superstar on SmackDown! So how
is it possible that it has been several months since she's
done an interview with WWE.com? We tracked her down at a
recent event to correct this anomaly, and get her thoughts
on international tours, making out with Torrie Wilson's
father and more.
WWE.com: You made your WWE television debut
almost a half-year ago. Generally speaking, how would you
say things are going for you?
Dawn Marie: I'm having a great time. Every
week is definitely a new, exciting adventure. We're just
enjoying where the character and the story are going. Let's
see what happens tonight.
WWE.com: How is your in-ring training going?
Are you still getting in the ring and trying to learn?
Dawn Marie: Yes. Every day at the house
shows, I get to the building two hours early and I train
with (agent) Fit (Finlay) and some of the guys. On TV days,
we get here around 12 (noon), we get in the ring by 2:30
and we train until the doors open.
WWE.com: So how is everything going with
your training?
Dawn Marie: Really good. I'm feeling very,
very comfortable in the ring. I feel like my instincts are
starting to kick in now, whereas before everything was,
"OK, what should I do next? How should I react?"
You're just always thinking, and now I'm not thinking as
much; it's more instinctual. So that's a good thing.
WWE.com: Would you like to wrestle more
often?
Dawn Marie: Well, right now I'm wrestling
three times a week, sometimes four.
WWE.com: What about wrestling on TV?
Dawn Marie: It doesn't matter to me. Whatever
they want me to do. Working for WWE isn't just about wrestling.
I love every aspect of the business. I like that part (wrestling)
-- it's a new part of the business that I'm learning. It
makes it exciting for me, coming from a managing background.
Most of my career was being a manager. But I love being
a manager, and I love doing this character. I'm really happy
to be able to do it all, not just, "OK, you're just
a wrestler now." Or, "You're just a manager now."
Or, "You're just this personality now." I like
it all. I don't wish I was wrestling more; I don't wish
I wasn't wrestling more. I like exactly what I'm doing.
WWE.com: What are your impressions of this
situation that's going on with you and Al Wilson?
Dawn Marie: I love Al Wilson. He's my fiancé.
What are you trying to say? (Laughs) I'm really having fun
with it. I think it's something that hasn't been done. Al
Wilson definitely makes it exciting every week. He's a funny
man, and he's very nice. Torrie likes to walk around the
locker room and call me "Mom" all the time. It
makes for some interesting locker-room talk, and it makes
for some interesting TV. Let's see where it goes.
WWE.com: Is it ever a little strange doing
those scenes with Al, because it really is Torrie's dad?
Dawn Marie: At first, I kind of felt like,
"Oh my God, it's Torrie's dad!" (Laughs) I kind
of couldn't look her in the face after the shower scene.
I don't feel uncomfortable when I'm actually doing it, but
afterwards when I have to look her in the face, I'm like,
"I'm sorry, Torrie! I didn't mean to do it! I really
didn't enjoy it!" But she's so funny about it. And
she's been so super cool. She's made me at ease about it.
I never minded that it was her father. I actually thought
it was cool that it was her dad, and it made it interesting
and believable, obviously. But she's been really, really
good about it.
WWE.com: WWE's recent tour of Europe was
your first time in Europe, wasn't it?
Dawn Marie: Yeah, it was my first time
in Europe. It was interesting and exciting. When we were
in Helsinki, I was walking to the gym. I said, "Wow.
This kind of looks like one of those World War II movies
you watch, where everything's in black and white. I feel
like I should be looking at things in black and white."
It's kind of a neat experience to be able to realize how
fortunate we are here in the U.S. -- how much we have. It
was neat. It was a really great experience; I'm glad I experienced
it.
WWE.com: Did you get a chance to look around
at all?
Dawn Marie: I didn't really get time. I
didn't go out at all, and I didn't go shopping. The one
day I was going to go shopping was in Helsinki, but it was
snowing pretty bad. I just didn't feel like going out in
the cold that day. I really didn't know what to expect,
being that it was my first European tour, so I was trying
to conserve as much of my energy as possible. But it was
fun. I got to go the gym. And it was kind of neat to see
all the different gyms they had, compared to how are gyms
are here.
WWE.com: They use kilograms instead of
pounds.
Dawn Marie: Yeah! That's the one thing!
(Laughs) I was really mad at myself. For all you kids who
are still in school ...I was sitting there in the gym, and
I was looking at the dumbbells, because I like to train
with the dumbbells versus the machines. I looked over at
Hugh Morrus (Bill DeMott) and I said, "You know, I
thought I'd never say this, but I wish I paid attention
in school more often. Because I have no idea what I'm about
to pick up!" It really made it difficult. He started
laughing, and I think he kind of related. I think a lot
of people were relating to it. So it was a little difficult,
but we got through it. (Laughs) We got through the workout.
WWE.com: Now that your first international
tour with WWE is complete, would you say you'd like to do
more in the future?
Dawn Marie: Yes. I'm looking forward to
our next adventure overseas. Every week is an adventure
here. We're looking forward to the next one.
WWE.com: But it's kind of cool in Europe
getting to stay in those nice hotels, right?
Dawn Marie: Yeah, they had some nice hotels.
And the food was good. It was really good. I was not expecting
it to be as good as it was, but it was good.
WWE.com: The U.K. pay-per-view, Rebellion,
was just six days after No Mercy, and you wrestled on both
shows. How difficult it is to compete on two pay-per-views
in six days?
Dawn Marie: I didn't find it difficult
at all. We perform four days a week here. I don't work any
harder at a pay-per-view then I do at a house show, so to
me, it was just performing again. I'm getting used to the
schedule of working four days a week. I really didn't find
it any different than any other week, other than it being
live.
WWE.com: You don't get more nervous for
TV?
Dawn Marie: I am equally as nervous for
TV tapings, live pay-per-views and house shows.
WWE.com: So you do get nervous.
Dawn Marie: I still get nervous. And I
was told by the veterans years ago that they day you stop
getting nervous, get out. So, like I said, I don't perform
any different for a house show than I do for a pay-per-view.
I put in 150 percent. So it really didn't make a difference
to me.
WWE.com: So what are your short-term goals
-- what are you looking to accomplish in the next few months
-- and what are your long-term goals in WWE?
Dawn Marie: I would say my short-term goals
are the same as my long-term goals here. I just take every
day as it comes and try to do my best and be able to do
what they ask me to do. Because that's basically my job
as a performer here, is to be able to technically do what
they expect of me and act in a certain way. I'd like to
stay here for as long as they want to keep me. Hopefully,
I can just get better and better every day.
